Om Shanti Om is a forthcoming Hindi film to be directed by Farah Khan. It stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in pivotal roles. The film's score and soundtrack will be composed by the musical duo, Vishal-Shekhar with lyrics by renowned poet, Gulzar. Music sittings for the film were recently held at Chennai. Cinematography for the movie is handled by S. Manikandan whilst editing is handled by Shirish Kunder, both who have previously worked with Khan in Main Hoon Na. The film is said to be based on reincarnation. Shooting of the film will begin in January2007 at various locations in India . The film is slated for release sometime in late 2007. According to the press (As of Sept 5th,06), the director Farah Khan wants to incorporate latin superstar Shakira in this movie to perform in one of the songs. This collaboration was born when both of them agreed to work together at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.
Farah Khan who was supposed to do Happy New Year scrapped that project to do this film.
Shakira has expressed her desire to work in this movie after being choreographed by Farah. Also, she has stated that she is a big Shah Rukh Khan fan.[citation needed]
Renowned Composer A.R.Rahman opted out of this movie, as T-Series did not agree to share the copyrights of music with him and the lyricist. Source
