Pharis Aboobacker. An indian business man hailing from the state of Kerala having business interest across the globe including Singapore, Chennai, Kerala and USA. Mr M A Pharis, a Muslim NRK (non-resident keralite) of considerable resources. Started his business career as private equity funder in real estate. He met with losses around 60 lakhs in the inital stage. He is said to be in his late 30s, apparently rose from humble beginnings in Kerala. He is said to be a close friend of Singapore's National Kidney Foundation former CEO T T Durai. The NKF had sued him to recover more than $5m paid to three of his software companies, and it was reported last year that a writ of summons was served on him in Chennai.His business interests in India have gone beyond software companies in India. He now owns a controlling stake in the Deepika, a 120-year-old Malayalam newspaper that was previously run by the Catholic Church in Kerala. The Straits Times(Singapore national daily) has quoted people who know him as saying that he is an unostentatious man devoted to his wife and two school-age daughters. He stays at the Poes Garden neighbourhood of Chennai.He is said to be owning business interest(land and pvt equity) of 1000 crore ruppees in Chennai alone. He runs Singapore based Forte Systems and Chennai based Protonweb, both software product development organizations.
